UMAMI BROWNIES

INGREDIENTS:
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon Atlantic Sea Farms Kelp Powder (optional for extra umami flavor)
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup milk chocolate chips
- 1/4 cup whole milk
- 4 Atlantic Sea Farms Kelp Cubes, thawed under warm water for 10 minutes or so, until softened and able to be scooped out of their trays
STEPS:
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×9-inch (23×23 cm) baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and optional Kelp Powder.
- Mix Wet Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted butter, eggs, vanilla extract, kelp cubes, and milk. Whisk until well blended.
- Combine the wet ingredients mix slowly into the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined into a batter.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly. Bake for 50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- Allow the brownies to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely. Cut into squares and serve.
