VP of Finance and Compliance

We are seeking a dedicated individual to join our team as a full-time VP of Finance and Compliance who is excited to work with a dynamic, mission-driven start-up and become an integral part of achieving our mission. A successful applicant must have experience in Quickbooks Manufacturing, have a strong knowledge of best practices in food manufacturing accounting, and be willing and able to manage the financial operations, procurement, and insurance and HR compliance management for a start-up. This position requires strong interpersonal and research skills, flexibility, efficiency, and a focus on details. A successful candidate will be a self-starter with the ability to work well with all levels of internal management and staff. This position reports to the CEO.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
● Accurately and efficiently manage ASF Finance Team
● Work across Senior Management Team to ensure financially responsible and efficient operations
● Institute policy and process for the month end financial close process including inventory count and reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations, month end accruals and necessary analysis.
● Responsible for all invoicing of customers and subsequent collections.
● Manage staff accountant.
● Research and analyze trade and promotional expenses alongside the sales team and work with customers, distributors and freight companies to get back any deductions that are incorrectly withheld.
● Work with freight companies and logistics providers to negotiate the best possible rates.
● Prepare required weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly reports in a robust, timely, and efficient manner.
● Prepare and present to the company’s stakeholders, monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements as per US GAAP. Prepare detailed management reports and analysis on the business performance.
● Lead and coordinate the annual operating plan exercise and track progress of same including periodic latest estimates.
● Collaborate with Operations Team to set, track, and achieve COGS reduction goals
● Manage and ensure low rates and effective coverage for all company insurances and payroll vendors
● Create and manage pricing analysis for all products and processes
● Oversee procurement processes as well as pricing analysis across all suppliers
● Negotiate and finalize terms with the company’s co-mans and oversee their commercial performance.
● Evaluate capital investment projects including preparing IRR, ROI and other analysis as needed.
● Oversee, coordinate, and research company’s grant applications and grant management processes
● Evaluate and put in place debt and other non-dilutive financing options for the business
● Lead the capital raising efforts of the business to bring in mission aligned equity growth capital for the business.
● To ensure all compliances are obtained and maintained as required in all jurisdictions where the business operates.
● To lead the review / audit process with the Company’s auditors.
● Other related duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:
● Must have solid experience in leading strategic financial operations
● Strong knowledge of standard cost accounting, and manufacturing
● Degree in finance or accounting as well as 5+ years of experience
● Demonstrated ability to organize, set and implement priorities
● Strength in multi-tasking and a keen attention to detail in a fast-paced environment
● Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
● Ability to work productively in an ambiguous and high-energy environment
● Strong written communication

Compensation:
● This position would be paid an annual base salary, have access to the company’s health benefits package, paid vacation, and a bonus structure based on individual and team performance as well as inclusion in the company’s stock options plan.
